Post-Natal Yoga

Tuesdays 1-2pm

4 week course £35

Includes diastasis-recti check

This course nurtures new mothers, allowing space and time for healing and the re-building of strength gradually and safely. This is also an opportunity to meet other mums, share experiences and relax with your baby.

The exercises are carefully designed to build strength in the pelvic floor and core safely. Most importantly, it will give you time to stretch and release the tensions of motherhood and allow you time to breathe deeply, relax body and mind and balance your hormones and emotions.

What is diastasis Recti?

Diastasis Recti (tummy separation) most commonly occurs in the third trimester of pregnancy (majority of women get some form of tummy separation). The increased load of a growing baby and further shifts in alignment of pregnancy exacerbate the root problem, causing intra-abdominal pressure, therefore causing tummy separation and a weakened core......many women don’t even realise they have it!

There seems a great lack of awareness and knowledge among health professionals and postnatal women about the impact that Diastasis Recti (abdominal tummy separation) has on women’s bodies. Many women are unaware what Diastasis Recti is. It seems to be rarely checked.

Common forms of Diastasis Recti can be successfully repaired with the correct therapeutic exercises using the breath and props.
The workshops main focus is to ‘support the supporting structures’ around the problem area: so we will mainly focus on your transverse abdominals as well as building on your lower back strength, pelvic floor tone and organ function. It’s all about engaging the abdominal muscles from the inside out!

You can bring your baby to these classes. Watch the video above to see it in action!
